Our department has several agreements in place with Madison College. This means that our high school instructors have worked in cooperation with the staff at Madison College to ensure that we are teaching the same competencies in our courses that they teach on their campus. Once the agreement is created, students who earn at least a B in the course at the high school level have the opportunity to also earn the articulated or dual credit at Madison College.
Students who have earned articulated credit in Accounting I & II will see the initals (AS) after their grade on their high school transcript, which means "Advanced Standing." Students must present their high school transcript to the Madison College admissions office to be sure the course is added to their college transcript.
Dual credit was first offered to students in both Word and Excel classes during the 2011-12 school year. Juniors and seniors in these classes sign up as a Madison College student, and take the Madison College final exam. They will automatically have a transcript with the class listed upon successful completion of the final exam with a B or better. Freshmen and sophomores will have the opportunity to review and take the final exam when they are upperclassmen.
Articulated courses: Accounting I & II*
Dual credit courses: Microsoft Excel* and Microsoft Word*
*Occasionally these courses will also transfer to other educational institutions, so it is to a student's advantage to pursue the articulated credits.
