This garden at the Cambridge Elementary School produces a variety of good food including lettuce, spinach, radishes, peppers, tomatoes, peas, snap beans, kohlrabi, carrots, and squash along with marigolds and nasturtiums. It is also a place where students help harvest the produce for classroom snacks as well as Chef in the Classroom and the Cambridge Wellness Collaborative Try It Tuesdays.
Many hands help care for the CES Garden during the growing season. Students get their hands in the dirt to help with planting and harvesting during the summer and fall. This garden is a community effort with help from the Cambridge School District staff, Cambridge Farm to School, Cambridge CAP, Pleasantime Daycare, and community volunteers.
From spring planting to fall harvest, there is always something happening in in our gardens. Would you be willing to help? If so, please contact the Farm to School chair for more information. Cambridge Farm to School is structured as a PTO Committee that supports the School Lunch Garden, CES Garden, Ready Set Go's famous watermelon shark, Chef in the Classroom series, and Farm Day.
