School District of Cambridge

This excerpt is from the oldest of the yearbooks to be found in the CHS Library. The Class of 1942 dedicated their CA-HI "annual" to Miss. Margaret Griffiths, Mr. James Knoblauch (sound familiar, CHS Knoblauch Gymnasium) and Mr. Riley Livingston. There were seven staff members, each recognized in the annual with an educational/personal bio. The Board of Education Members at the time were: G.J.Wallace-President, G.W. Crump-Treasurer, and Mrs. L Scott- Clerk. A few of the advertisers, some you may recognize, were: Cambridge Lumber Company, Lee and Carpenter Pontiac Sales, Cambridge Bowling Alley, Anderson's (meat) Market, Rolf's Restaurant, The Cambridge New, Rockdale Barbershop, Rude Bros (used cars-Rockdale), Simonsen Bros. John Deere Co., Cambridge Feed and Seed Co., Manny's, Marsden's Restaurant, Iverson's Pharmacy, Cambridge Bakery, Cambridge Hardware, Cambridge Creamery, A.D. Prescott, Tellefson's Grocery Store, Rockdale, Hillside Store (Willis Lein), London Cheese Factory, Rockdale Flour Mill, Munson's Grocery Store-London, Kampstad's Clothing, The Melster Candy Company, The "SPA" (A. Brumm), the Village Inn, and Roeber's Wisco Store Rockdale. A little history lesson for all of us.
