Five CES and NMS students are now published authors and artists after a panel of judges selected their work through the Greater Dane County Advanced Learner Network. The contest was held for any student in Grades 5-8 in five different categories. Tomorrow, May 20th, they will celebrate this achievement with other students in the Greater Dane County area. This year's theme was "Crossroads".
Marlee Schaning, 5th Grade - Creative Writing, "Echo"
Birdie Pickett, 5th Grade - Poetry, "The Intersection of Life"
Alana Sable, 6th Grade - Poetry, "Choose"
Marlina Sanchez, 7th Grade - Art, "The Choice is Yours"
June Fitzgerald, 8th Grade - Cartoon, "Choose One" and Art, "Which one do you choose?"
Alec Mehringer (4th Grade) is also a published author now, as his haiku, "Brainstorm," was selected by a separate panel of judges through the Greater Dane County Advanced Learner Network's 4th Grade Haiku Contest. Alec had the opportunity last Friday to read his haiku on stage in front of other winners.
Congratulations to these students for their hard work, creativity, and dedication in earning recognition as they represent themselves and the School District of Cambridge.
