Good Morning NMS Families! I hope this message finds you all continuing to be healthy and well!! I wanted to share some important information and details regarding the start of school on Tuesday, September 1st: 1) School will start at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday! This is earlier than normal, but important to the start of our new school year and teaching students how to participate in our virtual learning experience. Mrs. Jones will begin the morning with a message explaining how students “attend” classes and Mr. Andersen will be teaching our students important information about using their Chromebooks and Google Classroom. Students will receive a Google Meet link to log into Tuesday morning’s meeting. That link will be sent out today, Monday! 2) Virtual learning to start this school year looks VERY different from what it looked like in the spring! Students will receive Google Meet links for each class and will log into each class throughout the day – following the schedule (with class times) they received at the materials pick-up event last Wednesday. Students will not be “on screen” for an entire class period, but will check in with the teacher and participate in whatever lesson or activities the teacher has planned for that day – some time will be on screen and some time will be spent on independent work. 3) If you have not yet picked up your student’s materials for the start of the school year – including Chromebooks for our 6th graders, please contact Jenny Loether @ 423-7335 ASAP or stop by school anytime on Monday – we are here until 4:30...or can make special arrangements! 4) Mr. Andersen has prepared a video for parents for how to help your student(s) be successful in this virtual learning format. That video can be accessed by clicking on this link or copying/pasting the link into a new window/tab: https://youtu.be/B-SIB2A-gaA Please join me and our staff in making this the best school year it can be – learning through the challenges... demonstrating patience and flexibility! 2020 Summer School Update We want all families to know that The Cambridge School District is planning to have Summer School in July and August. This was decided in efforts to: to promote the health and safety of our students and staff, allow time for additional planning for our teachers, gain clarity from the health department, and allow for closure to the 2019-2020 school year. At this time it is unclear what the offerings will look like. They may be virtual, in-person, or a blend of the two. It is our sincere hope that families will participate in the 2020 Summer School program. Updates will be communicated as soon as they are available. Thank you for your understanding and support. Stay tuned!
